Director of Surgery Ambulatory/ Procedural

 DESCRIPTION
Plans, organizes, and directs the administrative and technical activities of the unit/department, including personnel management, financial management, strategic outreach to physicians, and administrative functions that relate to quality patient-care services. Creates an effective working relationship with all levels of staff and peers, represents the department on institutional committees, develops long-range objectives, and prepares for any changes in healthcare delivery. The Director translates strategies into day-to-day operations Participates with administration leaders, medical staff and clinical representatives in developing Cottage Health’s mission, strategic plans, budgets, resource allocation, community outreach, operation plans and policy making decisions and takes action consistent with the accepted standards and values of the hospital. Operates department in compliance with Joint Commission and/or other regulatory agency requirements. Oversees the management of assigned department budgets including capital, personnel and expense budgets.  Participates in developing and implementing mechanisms for collaboration between staff members, physicians, and other clinical practitioners.
Requirements: 
Current California RN License Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing  
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification 
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles, theories, and practices.Knowledge of supervisory theories, principles, practices, techniques, and methods. 

5 years of progressively responsible clinical/administrative experience or comparable experience that provides knowledge and skills essential to the position responsibilities-Ambulatory/Out Patient Surgery Experience

The Assistant Operating Room Director is responsible for coordination of patient care in the perioperative environment. He/she manages staff members in the main and outpatient surgery centers. Consults with staff, physicians and Surgical Services Director on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital and unit policies and procedures to ensure patient needs are met. Actively participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Formulates budget for the Perioperative Unit

 Required Qualifications:

  • BSN

  • 4+ yrs perioperative experience in an acute care hospital
  • 2+ yrs perioperative management experience
